The Fomorians are an ancient race native to Ireland. They are often depicted as monstrous or deformed beings, associated with chaos, darkness, and the sea. The Fomorians are said to have come from the sea and to have been the original inhabitants of Ireland before being defeated and driven underground by the Tuatha Dé Danann.

Despite their crude and primitive looking appearance, Fomorians are, in fact, rather intelligent

Resembling vagely humanoid beings, the Fomorians are ugly, twisted creatures with skin similar in color and texture to rock, often mistaken for trolls. They average between 2.5 and 3 meters in height and have been sworn enemies with the Fir Bolg ever since the two species ever met. Aside from their very different cultures and beliefs, Fomorians are known to be highly aggressive and cruel towards any other beings, and often even against their own kind.

Fomorians are skilled at shaping stone and metal, but their looks mirror their tastes, so Fomorian structures are often crude, irregular and ugly.

Several caves throughout Ireland lead to Fomorian underground strongholds. They are kept closed to the public to prevent people encountering the Fomorians. Luckily, Fomorians show little interest in wandering outside of their underground homes.
