Flying carpets (in Sanskrit "Vayumala", वयुमल) have been the preferred mode of transportation of witches and wizards from Eastern Europe and India for a long time.

The use of flying carpets can be traced back to the 9th century, possibly earlier, with stories and myths passed down through generations. These carpets were imbued with magic spells and talismans that allowed them to fly through the air, giving witches and wizards the ability to travel great distances in a relatively short amount of time.

With the rise of broomsticks in Europe and the USA, they also gained popularity in other parts of the world. However, flying carpets are still widely used in India and parts of the Middle East. Even in Eastern Europe, some witches and wizards still prefer the use of magic carpets over broomsticks due to their relative silence and versatility.
