Clearwater
The Clearwater family is one of the oldest trueblood families, priding themselves of having verifiably remained pure for 21 generations.
For centuries, the Clearwaters have traded with Mundanes, despite a certain disdain for them. Considering them somewhat uncivilized primitives, they traded mostly worthless items for valuables and amassed great wealth that way. While this did not cause any harm, many considered the deals the Clearwaters made to be scams.
After Winter's Treachery, new laws were put in place concerning the trade with Mundanes, outlawing any trade unless it was first sanctioned by the Magistry. This basically destroyed the Clearwaters' trade empire overnight, not only dethroning the family as one of the richest families in the magic society, but, as they were not used to not having their immense incomes, and failing to abandon their opulent lifestyle quickly enough, plunging them right down to middle-class levels.
Because of this, the Clearwaters were one of the families that tried to hunt down and enact revenge on the Wintergales.
