Grimoire
A grimoire is a book of magic used by witches, wizards, and practitioners of the occult arts. Derived from the Old French term "grammaire," which originally referred to any book written in Latin, the word "grimoire" has come to specifically signify a book of magical knowledge and practices. Before the term "grimoire" gained prominence, these books were known by various names, such as "liber magicae" (book of magic) or "codex magicae" (magic codex). Regardless of the name, a grimoire holds a significant place in the life of a magus, often considered their most important possession alongside their magic focus.
Typically, a witch or wizard begins their grimoire at the initiation of their magical education and continues to add to it throughout their journey. Some magi may maintain multiple grimoires for specific subjects, while others dedicate a single grimoire to encompass their entire magical knowledge. These books become repositories of spells, incantations, potion recipes, divination techniques, and other esoteric knowledge acquired by the practitioner.
One notable feature of grimoires is their enchantment, allowing the user to add, remove, and rearrange pages as desired, akin to a binder.
