Magistry
Magistry (sometimes spelled "Magistery) is an umbrella term for administrative organizations which act as the governing body of the magic society all over the world. It is common to speak of "the Magistry" when actually referring to the specific magistry of one's country, similar as to one may speak of "the government".
The purpose of a magistry is to regulate and enforce laws for the magical community, as well as keeping said community hidden from the Mundane world.
Departments Within a Magistry
While the exact departments vary from Magistry to Magistry, there are a few departments that are always present.
Department of Education
Oversees magical education and schools, ensuring quality education and curriculum for young witches and wizards. The Department of Education also provides guidelines for ranked exams, which allow students to achieve higher ranks. The department is also responsible for identifying individuals whose magic powers awoke to make sure they receive the required training.
Department of Law Enforcement
This department is responsible for enforcing magical laws and maintaining public order. They work closely with the Wardens to investigate and prosecute magical crimes.
Department of Magical Research and Development
Conducts research and development of new magical spells, potions and technologies to advance magical capabilities. Also examines and researches magical artifacts and locations.
Department of Magizoology
This department is responsible for anything concerning magical creatures. This includes conservation, legal and illegal trade and ownership in magical creatures, preventing dangerous animals from causing harm and ensuring they remain hidden from the Mundane world.
Department of International Affairs
Handles diplomatic relations, treaties and collaborations with other magical governments and international organizations.
Department of Intermundal Affairs
Responsible for dealing with issues and affairs relating to other Mundi or Anþerwelts.
Department of Mundane Affairs
This department deals with issues and affairs from the Mundane world, such as relations with Mundane governments.
Department of Secrecy
Ensures the secrecy and protection of the magical society, monitors and regulates interactions with non-magical individuals, and handles any breaches of magical secrecy. In the latter case, the department works with the Wardens if necessary.
